Moon: Close up

Here are close up images of the Moon I took in the evening of OCT 5, 2011 between 19:30-20:30. Using a hacked webcam, Celestron 4se and my wife's laptop.

To give you an idea of the scale of the images, examine the last frame. Look for Crater Archimedes. It is 83km in diameter and 2.1km deep. The distance of 83km is like drawing a straight line between Mandaluyong City and Lucban, Quezon. That's how big it is!

Montes Caucasus are mountain ranges as high as 6km (19,685ft).

Vallis Alpes, the valley that bisects Montes Alpes is about 166km long! Now draw a line between NAIA airport and Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Just Amazing!
